Key Responsibilities:

• Promotes dental health through prophylaxis, cancer screening, and radiographic studies.
• Charts decay and disease conditions and complies with Dental Practice Act.
• Prepares treatment room according to protocols and procedures.
• Welcomes, soothes, seats, and drapes patients for dental hygiene treatment.
• Answers questions and requests from patients and employees.
• Maintains dental instruments through sharpening, sterilizing, and selection.
• Evaluates patient's oral health to select materials and equipment for hygiene visit.
• Cleans deposits and stains from teeth and below gum margins during prophylaxis.
• Detects disease through oral cancer screening and examination of gums.
• Helps dentists during emergencies with CPR certification, emergency drugs, and oxygen supply.
• Educates patients on oral hygiene and provides postoperative instructions, reminders for next visit.
• Documents vital signs, medical and dental histories in patient records.
• Maintains confidentiality and creates a safe and clean working environment.
• Adheres to infection-control policies and protects patients and employees.
• Manages dental supplies inventory and conserves resources.
• Uses equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job.

Required Qualifications:

• Active IN Hygiene License
